11. The wiper motor and mechansim are exposed and should now be removed. There are four nuts and one clip.
Two nuts on the outboard bracket. Here's the first one.
Here's the second one one.
Two nuts on each side of the center mechanism. Here:

Then pry out the clip. You can now just pick the whole thing up and swing it out of the way to the right (passenger side).
12. Here you can see the blower housing. Remove the outside temperature sensor.
13. The upper half (or cover) of the blower housing is removable and is secured by 8 clips.
Two clips on each side.
Two clips on in front.
And two clips hiding near the firewall.
14. The Blower Motor should now be exposed. STOP! Before you yank it, examine it carefully.
Note the orientation of the wiring. Here you can see that the wires attach to the left (driver's ) side of the motor.
More importantly, note the orientation and direction of the vanes of the fans. If the blower can be run, apply 12V to it
and note the direction of rotation. Take notes. Take pictures if you can.
15. The Blower Motor is held in place by a strap. You can see the brass strap in the photo. The strap just clips into place.
Insert a small tool into the hole in the tab at the rear (upper) end of the strap, apply a little leverage,
and the strap will pop free.
NOTE: The strap on my replacement motor is black and is held in place by two screws instead of clipping in, so
your mileage may vary.
Disconnect the two wires and the blower motor can be lifted out.
16. My replacement blower motor came with a new cradle and strap, if yours did too, then remove the old cradle. There are two
Torx screws here.
(Yes, the blower motor is still in place in this photo. That is because wonderful instructions like these did not exist.)
And one Torx screw here. The cradle can then be lifted out.
| |
If you are not replacing the Blower Regulator, you may skip to Step 20.
